How To Wax Your Car Properly

By Lin Ford

Learning how to properly wax a car is a skill that every auto owner should have. There is a lot of value in this skill, and it goes beyond the simple enjoyment of doing the job and stepping back to see the finished result. Of course, that feeling is pretty awesome too, but there is a real long term value in this job especially when you do it regularly.

An effective wax job appropriately applied, safeguards any car from certain minor scratches and hides others, as well as aids in preventing rust especially during the cold months

Showroom Finish For Your Car

That completely new showroom finish is one thing that we all would like to accomplish with our cars. The day you bring an automobile home from the car dealership is often the first and last day it ever appears like that. But this doesn't need to be. Take time to really learn to wax your vehicle the proper way and you will ensure that it stays looking almost showroom new for much longer time. Obviously, one method to accomplish this look would be to pay to have your vehicle detailed, but where's the enjoyment in doing that? For this reason, Do-it-yourself, cut costs and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Researching Car Wax Brands

You will find a variety of brands and designs of automotive wax items available on the market. Take some time to check out the items which are available and find out which of those you believe you may like the best. Often times, consumer rankings value the few less costly brands the most. So, investing in more expensive car waxes, will not necessarily accomplish anything.

Regardless, make certain you stay with a non-abrasive wax to provide the best results.

Preparing Cars for Waxing

Next, perform a thorough cleaning and washing job on the vehicle. Clean it two times if needed to make certain you remove all of the spots you skipped the very first time. Don't clean it in direct sunlight if it's hot out, since you really do not want it to dry too quickly. Once it's clean, you are now prepared to wax. Towel dry any excessive wet areas, especially around the hood.

Waxing a Car Right

Obtain a moisten sponge and squirt a little bit of wax on to the sponge. Give it a try and find out how that amount works best for coverage. Don't cover much more of a space than you are able to and definitely, don't too much that it dries before you have completed that area. Make use of a circular motion to rub the wax into the surface of the vehicle. Cover the entire vehicle moving in order surface by surface throughout the entire process so that you won't miss anything.

Removing the Car Wax

When you return back around to the original surface, the wax you applied is going to be dry. Cloth diapers really are excellent tools for getting rid of excess wax for those who have any available. A terry cloth will even work nicely if it doesn't have any fresh paint or any other abrasives onto it. Remove the wax using a circular motion in the opposite direction in which you used to apply the wax.

Make certain to remove all the wax by putting sufficient pressure during the wipe off process. Make certain to change towels as frequently as necessary to prevent putting wax back onto the paint surface throughout this activity. This avoids any chance of swirl marks occurring and also any damage to the paint the old wax could cause.

Use only clean towels and make sure to be thorough all the way through to avoid damage and to get the best result. From the preparatory wash to completing the waxing itself and being thorough, creates that showroom look you were after from the very beginning. These represent helpful starting tips for a successful car wax project.

Saving Money With High Gas Prices? Go Hybrid!

By Eugene Agyei Yeboah

It's tough out there, it really is. To say the least, the economy is not the healthiest it could be. To add to the trouble, gas prices are extremely high. For most of us, refilling at the pump could cost anywhere between $40-60, maybe higher. Ouch!! I'm not too fond about these gas prices, I'm sure you aren't either.

As a matter of fact, a friend of mine and I were having a conversation about excessive gas prices. A conversation that I'm sure many of us have had.

Anyway, she was speaking about how she no longer drives. As a student in a university, it is extremely tough to pay expenses, and then spend $60 at the pump. As we kept talking, she mentioned that it was even worse for her dad, as he paid $85 to fill up his vehicle!! What kind of car was he driving?!

A truck.

Wow... $85 at the pump, per week? That is about $300 a month, multiply that by 12, that comes out to be $3,600. That's $3,600 that he spends per year, on gas alone! I'm just playing these numbers, my friend's dad may actually pay more, or less. At these prices, we have a new bill to pay for: the Gas Bill.

I'm sure I'm not only speaking for myself when I state that these conditions kill wallets. We can't abandon our cars and automobiles because we need them to get by.

A dilemma that forces us to spend hundreds of dollars on gas. Although we can always drive smarter to preserve gas, it won't put a large dent into that $3,600. Sad but true...

DRIVING SMARTER, just a very few tips.

- Try not to surpass 43mph when driving, speeds above that causes your car to conquer a massive amount of wind resistance. As a result, more gas is used and ultimately more money is used.

- Don't let the dog (or even kids, although they're animals as well) stick its head out the window. To be more precise, don't keep windows open when driving at considerable speeds (50mph and higher). If you do, you allow air drag. Sadly, one of the effects of air drag is dropping mileage by almost 13%. Therefore, we must resist the urge to stick our heads out the car window.

- Try to maintain a steady speed. Just like turning on and off lights wastes power, speeding up and slowing down frequently, wastes gasoline and your money.

Although you will not save hundreds with these simple tips, you will save some money.

Some have turned to hybrids for the answer, but let's be honest, the initial 25 thousand to invest is too much for the average individual to bear. And so, we're stuck paying excessive gas prices.

Good news, It no longer has to be so...

Many individuals have turned to convert their vehicles to run on both water, and gas. By doing so, they've managed to double, and at rare times, even tripled their gas mileage!

Ever heard of hydrogen cars? I'm not telling you that you can run your car on 100% water. As of now, no vehicle can run on water alone, BUT, your engine can use water to work with the gasoline, saving you tons of money!

Folks often report a 50% increase in gas mileage, which is the usual result when used correctly.

Alright, so you're saving money, but the best thing is that your being environmentally friendly by consuming less gas.

Like I said before: "it no longer has to be so..." but it's really up to you, if you would like to find out more on converting your vehicle, be sure to read my Blog, Water As Gas

Worried About Rising Car Petrol Bill – Try These

Car fuel bills have become a real pain these days, a big reason to worry and leave a big hole in your pocket. The monthly budget goes out of tune. With the petrol and diesel pries riding on high tide and always heading north, the situation is sure to get worse in near future. While nothing much can be done to control the rising fuel prices, below tips can surely help to decrease wastage and increase your car efficiency in turn reducing the cost of fuel on your pocket.

Cruise at 60 kilometer per hour

Cruising at 60 kilometer per hour results in smooth functioning of engine, thus reducing the fuel consumption. Increasing your cruising speed from 60 to 80 kilometer per hour will drive up consumption by 20 percent.

Change Gears Wisely

Driving in the top gear without putting pressure on the engine reduces fuel consumption and thus is a more efficient way of driving. A vehicle travelling at 55 kilometer per hour in fourth gear is likely to use 15-20% more fuel than at the same speed in fifth gear.

Keep the Tank Full

Keeping the tank filled up with fuel ensures that engine receives proper fuel supply and thus efficiency is not compromised.

Say no to Air Conditioner when not required

Using AC certainly leads to loss in efficiency. If the weather permits, its always better to turn it off and increase car's efficiency.

Roll up windows on Expressway

Driving on expressway while keeping the windows open puts more pressure on engine as the incoming strong breeze pushes the car in backward direction. Rolling up windows and turning on the air conditioner might be a better way of increasing fuel economy.

Avoid Rush Hours

it is a tried and tested method for saving petrol. Rush hour means more waiting time and travelling on lower gear instead of 4th or 5th and thus a marked increase in the fuel consumption. Thus avoid rush hours as far as possible to increase your car's fuel efficiency.

Take Care of Tyres

According to a survey, about 40% of tyres on the road are not inflated properly. This wastes fuel and decreases the car's furl efficiency. Air pressure in tyres should be checked once in every 15 days.

Keep the Engine in Tune

Regular check up of engine is a must and any tune ups required should be done immediately. This would keep the engine in good shape and car mileage would be up by around 5%.

Use Good Quality Oil

Engine oil is an essential ingredient of a car engine which helps in keeping the temperature under control. A good quality engine oil not only helps improving the efficiency but also keeps the engine in good shape for longer time.

Following these simple and easy points can surely improve a car's performance resulting in bringing down of the fuel expenditure by a sizeable margin. Happy Driving.
